Mogadishu, Somalia – Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and Mama Zahra Foundation (MZF) handed over a refrigerator to the Somali Army Hospital (Isbitaalka Xooga) on November 15, 2023. The donation was made possible through a partnership between TAPS and MZF, who have been working together to support vulnerable populations in Somalia.
The refrigerator was handed over to the hospital’s management team in a brief ceremony attended by representatives from TAPS, MZF, and the Somali Army. The donation is aimed at improving the hospital’s capacity to store medical supplies and equipment, which will ultimately benefit the patients who receive care at the hospital.
“We are grateful for the partnership with Mama Zahra Foundation and the opportunity to support the Somali Army Hospital,” said Ms. Bonnie Carroll, President and founder of TAPS. “We believe that this donation will make a positive impact on the lives of the patients and the medical staff who work tirelessly to provide care.”
Mama Zahra Foundation, based in Mogadishu, is a non-profit organization that works to empower women and children in Somalia. The organization provides various services, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, to support women and children affected by conflict and poverty.
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) has been working in Somalia for short time, but they give more valuable donations, providing support to vulnerable populations affected by conflict, poverty, those who lost their loved one and other crises. The organization has implemented various programs, including education and vocational training, to help individuals rebuild their lives and communities.
The donation of the refrigerator is a testament to the growing partnership between TAPS and MZF and their commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in Somalia. The two organizations will continue to work together to identify ways to support the Somali Army Hospital and other orphan communities in need.
