Mogadishu, Somalia – Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations, visited the office of Mama Zahra Foundation (MZF) in Mogadishu on 14/11/2023.

The TAPS delegation was led by Ms. Bonnie Carroll, President and founder of the organization, and included Mrs. Fatma, TAPS representative in Europe based in Italy, and Mr. Augustine, Director of Sub-Saharan Africa and South America.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss ways to support Somali Army widows and their children, who have been affected by the ongoing conflict in the country. The TAPS delegation met with the MZF management team that, which included the Program Manager, General Secretary, Finance Manager, and Protocol of First Lady.

During the meeting, both teams underpinned the issue of Somali Army widows and their children and discussed ways to provide support and education to help them. The idea of opening a vocational training school to provide skills to orphans in their teenage years was also discussed.

The visit was an opportunity for TAPS and MZF to explore potential collaboration and find ways to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable populations in Somalia.

TAPS has been working in Somalia for less than a year, providing support to vulnerable populations affected by conflict, poverty, and other crises. The organization has implemented various programs, including education and vocational training, to help individuals rebuild their lives and communities.

Mama Zahra Foundation, based in Mogadishu, is a non-profit organization that works to empower women and children in Somalia. The organization provides various services, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, to support women and children affected by conflict and poverty.

The visit from TAPS is a testament to the growing partnership between the two organizations and their commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in Somalia.
